I'll be taking Year #2.

I have arrived at our great fortress this spring to do my inspection and take over the managerial duties. I was impressed wityh the amount of work accomplished in the year that had passed since our expedition began. I did notice that much of the loose stone from excavating the lower levels was still laying out in the halls and so I have decided one of the many things I'll try to accomplish during my time as govenor is to clean things up a bit. Update #2
As we began removing the loose stone from the floors I thought it would be wise to expand our stone stockpile to prepare for the large amount of granite that would soon make its way there.
Our Mason, Crumbs II came up with the idea of laying granite flooring on the upper levels of the fortress to prettify things up a bit so I have tasked her with that project.
We recently had some migrants move into the fortress so the apartments will needed expanding soon, I found a hallway dug out for some reason by my predecessor and since he apparently had no purpose for it we will soon be converting it into an apartment block, along with a new section of cave that we are currently digging out.
I will provide further updates as time permits!

Update #3
Nearly immediately after my last report we had our first problem in the fortress, iKitten went stark raving mad after not having the materials she needed to complete her project. I was under the impression do to our last governors report that she would have what she needed but I have clearly been given bad information. I can only hope that the rest of the information I was handed on my way in is not as faulty. This is going to be a long year.
After completing the stone stockpile expansion it was nearly completely filled within minutes. I’m not sure if we’ll attempt to expand it further since it seems there will always be an endless supply of stone laying around.
In other news: iKitten died a horrible death of thirst after going completely insane and running around the fortress babbling gibberish. I’m not sure where she died yet, but once we find the body I’m sure some kind of arrangements can be made.
The new apartments are now done and our carpenter has provided us some very nice cabinets for the new homes.
And lastly, we've made some significant progress on our granite flooring project. We hope to have at least the main level and possible the second level completed before the years end.
Winter has just come upon us and as we buckle down for the year, we're all confident that the fortress will thrive throughout these colder months and be prepared to handle any new challenges of the new year.

Dear future Governor of this fortress. For reasons which will become apparent to you in time, rather than giving you this final update in person I am leaving this letter on your desk in the hopes you will read it when you are able.
As you know from my previous updates the year went well beyond the horrific death of iKitten. We expanded our ston stockpiles and built new apartments to help houe the incoming immigrants. In fact we actually began work on digging out a new apartment complex before my time as Governor ended. (See the attached picture)
The granite flooring project did not get as close to being finished as I had hoped. Mainly because we actually started running low on granite supplies. I'm sure as you keep expanding the fortress though you should find enough to complete the project (if that is your wish.)
In a minor aside, and the reason for me not giving this report in person. There was the small matter of a goblin invasion, which coincidentally began mere hours before my term in office was up. (See attached photos.)
Unfortunately we did not have a military until about 30 seconds after we realized the invasion was happening. There were a few casualties. Since my term ended I was unable help in the defense of the fortress and have since settled down in a new home far away. I hope that things go well for you.
