Okay, fine.
In the past year, most of the things we've been doing have been stabilising the network. The introduction of faster, more-powerful servers was one aspect of this. Getting the people on board to replace the services is another. In the next year, we'll see those implemented, along with all the benefits of something that actually works.
This past year also saw the introduction of the Tribes community, an interesting bunch to be sure. All several thousand of them. Smek became the most important user on the network, and a few other smaller communities sprang up. Some left again, but most stayed.
The website underwent a number of changes. The April Fool's Day prank was the best I ever pulled, support for polls came back, went again, came back, and probably went again. The quote database is probably the most important feature, since it's the only part that people seem to be using. Internally, there were vast rewrites to the skinning system, a couple of hundred minor bugs fixed (Seriously), the tucked-away "embassy" section and the alternate domains were all added.
It's been a busy year, but next year might just be busier.

One hell of a year, actually. From the community that thought it can, and could. In the past year we've seen many people come, some of them went. Some of them went quite spectacularly, others simply disappeared.
In the past year we've seen Lennier, Petrina, Anacostia, Sammet, Siden and Magician as servers, with Anacostia being the logical rename of Petrina. As most of us know by now. It's also time for Anacostia to delink.
Anacostia has caused enough problems as it is, so having Anacostia delinked shouldn't be too much of an issue for you guys. Still, Anacostia was the server that stabilised ArloriaNET, and I'll be saddened in some strange way to see it go.
But I'll also be pleased, because it allows me to introduce Catalina. Catalina is faster, supports SSL, and unlike Anacostia you can actually connect to it (catalina.irc.arloria.net). The actual machine that uses Anacostia will stay around, of course, it's just time to use a real server.
